Do It Your Way Afghan Pattern

Supplies:
H hook
Scrap worsted weight yarn
Large eye needle for assembly

**I made 90 squares for this lap size blanket. You can use any color combination you want. You can change colors to make rows, or you can make all of the squares the same color. It's all up to you and your creativity! :)**

REGULAR SQUARE:
R1: ch4, sl st to 1st ch to join and make a circle. ch3, make 16 dc in the center of the circle. Join to first dc w/ a sl st. (16 dc)
R2: ch3, (cts as dc), dc in same sp as join, ch2, 2dc in same space (corner made), dc in next 3dc,
*(2dc, ch2, 2dc) in next dc, dc in next 3dc*, repeat from * to * two more times. sl st in next dc and ch 2 sp. (28dc, 4 ch2 sp)
R3: ch3, (cts as dc), dc in ch2 sp, ch2, 2dc in ch2 sp, (corner made), dc in 6dc, *(2dc, ch2, 2dc) in next ch2 sp, dc in 6dc, * repeat from *to* two more times. sl st in ch3 to join. (44dc, 4 ch2 sp)

STRIPED SQUARE:
Repeat the same for regular square through Row 2. Cut yarn after Row 2 and join with a different color for Row 3.

Cut. Leave a long end to whipstich to next square. (I go from one corner ch2 sp to the other) The original version has 9 squares whipstitched in a row. You can do as many squares as you want. This will determine your blanket's width. Once you have your row whipstitched together, put a border on that row.

BORDER: Use a "Main Color"
Starting in the "upper right" corner of your row, join with a sl st in a ch2 space.( Sc, ch2, sc in corner ch2 space, sc in each sc, hdc dec in the ch2 spaces between squares) repeat this around the row, finish with a slip stitch to the first sc. Finish off, leaving a very long end of yarn to whipstitch your rows together.

Simple Fingerless Gloves

Materials Needed:
• Worsted Weight Acrylic yarn of choice, I used I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby
• crochet hook size H (5.0 mm)

Gauge is about 16 hdc = 4 inches.

Cuff
Ch 11
Rnd 1: sc in second ch from hook and in ch across, turn (10 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1, sc in first sc, sc in back loops only of next 8 sc, sc in last sc, turn (10 sts)
Rnd 3-24: repeat rnd 2 (10 sts)
Slst or sc the two ends together to form a cuff. Begin the next round by crocheting along the edge of the cuff to start the hand portion of the glove.
Hand
Work in the round, joining at the end of every row and continuing in the same direction. The first stitch will always be in the same stitch as the join from the previous round.

Rnd 7: ch 1, hdc in each st around, join (30 sts)
Rnd 8: ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, hdc in next 7 sts, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in each st around, join (32 sts)
Rnd 9: ch 1, hdc in first st, skip next 9 sts, hdc in next st and each st around, join (23 sts)
Rnd 10-13: ch1, hdc around, join
Rnd 14: ch 1, sc around, join
Fasten Off and weave in end.

Fingerless gloves

I made these gloves a few weeks ago for myself and now all my friends are requesting them! I used Red Heart Eco-ways yarn in Peacock, but any worsted weight will work! I used an H hook, but gauge isn't entirely important for this pattern.

1: Ch 32 (or the amount to go semi-loosely around right above your knuckles)
2: Ch 1, hdc around, join
3: Ch 1, hdc around, decrease to join (skip the last stitch and join)
4,5,6,7: hdc around, join
8: Ch enough to go loosely around your thumb (mine is 11), join back in next avalible stitch with hdc, continue to hdc around (Note! Now you will be working in the round, or not joined, just continuing on a loop)
9: hdc around so there is now 1 hdc line on the thumb part
10: hdc around, 1 decrease at "corner" before thumb part and 1 decrease at corner after thumb part (opional decrease in between on the thumb)
11: repeat 10
12: repeat 10
13: repeat 10
14: repeat 10 (the corners will be getting harder to identify, just estimate)
15: hdc around, decrease 1 in the middle of the thumb part
16: repeat 15
17: repeat 15
18-?: continue to hdc around until you reach the length you want

Winter Crochet Wristers

Directions are for size Small/Medium; changes for size. Medium/Large are in parentheses.

RED HEART® “Eco-Ways™”: 1 Ball each 2316 Storm A and 1615 Lichen B.

Crochet Hook: 6mm [US J-10].

Yarn needle.

GAUGE: 14 sts = 4” in dc. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Finished Measurements:

Hand Circumference: 7½ (8½)”.

Length: 10”.

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS:

fpdc (front post double crochet): yarn over, insert hook from front to back to front around the post of indicated stitch and draw yarn through, [yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook] twice.

bpdc (back post double crochet): yarn over, insert hook from back to front to back around the post of indicated stitch and draw yarn through, [yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook] twice.

To Change Color: Work the joining slip st with next color to be used.  

NOTE: Do not cut yarn when changing color but drop to the wrong side of the work and pick up again as needed.

WRISTER (Make 2): With A ch 26 (30) loosely; join with a slip st in first ch to form a ring making sure that the ch is not twisted.

Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in next ch and in each ch around; join with a slip st in top of ch-3 – 26 (30) sts.

Rnd 2: Ch 3, fpdc around next st, * bpdc around next st, fpdc around next st; repeat from * around; join with a slip st in top of ch-3.

Rnd 3: With B repeat Rnd 2.

Rnds 4 and 5: With A repeat Rnd 2.

Rnds 6-11: Repeat Rnds 3-5.

Rnd 12: Repeat Rnd 3.

Rnds 13 and 14: With A ch 3, dc in next st and in each st around; join.

Rnd 15: With B ch 1, sc in each st around; join with a slip st in first sc.

Rnds 16 and 17: Repeat Rnds 13 and 14.

Rnd 18 (Thumb Opening): With B ch 1, sc in same st as joining, ch 4, skip next 4 dc, sc in each dc around; join.

Rnd 19: With A ch 3, 4 dc in ch-4-space, dc in each sc around; join.

Rnd 20: Repeat Rnd 13. Cut A.

Rnd 21: With B ch 1, sc in same st as joining, * skip next dc, 5 dc in next dc, skip next dc **, sc in next dc; repeat from * around, end at **; join. Fasten off.

Wrist Warmers

Materials Needed: A small amount of worsted weight yarn in main color and contrasting color, H and I hook, sewing needle

FLO- Front loop only
BLO- Back loop only

with main color yarn and H hook

ch 29

Row 1 - hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch, ch 1 turn (28 hdc)

Row 2 - hdc in FLO of each st across, ch 1 turn

Row 3 - hdc in BLO of each st across, ch 1 turn

Row 4-18 - repeat rows 2 and 3

fasten off leaving a length of yarn to sew with, fold in half and stitch the first 18 sts together, skip the next 4 sts, stitch the next 6 sts together.

Thumb:

attach yarn in a free loop that was skipped when sewing up the side, ch 1, sc in the rest of the free loops on both sides including the 2 loops on each end that are whip stitched, this will total 12 sts, join with a sl st to the first sc

round 2-4 - sc in each st around, join with a sl st to 1st st

fasten off.

Attach contrasting color yarn and work one round of single crochet, fasten off.

Top and bottom of warmer:

Using I hook attaching contrasting yarn and work one round of hdc spacing 22 sts evenly around. Fasten off.


You can leave the thumb off and seam the wrist warmer the same way.

GAUGE:

20 sc + 24 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:

Wristers are worked in one piece in the round, beg at wrist edge.

WRISTER (make 2)
Ch 28 (34).
Being careful not to twist ch, join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in each ch around; join with sl st in first st – 28 (34) sts.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc in each st around; join with sl st in first st.
Rep Rnd 2 until piece measures 2 in. (5 cm) from beg.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, turn, working in front loops only, sc in each st around; join with sl st in first st.
Rep last rnd until piece measures 3 in. (7.5 cm) from beg.
Shape Gusset
Rnd 1: Ch 1, turn, working in front loops only, sc in next 13 (16) sts; sc in front loop of next st and then sc in back loop of same st (1 st increased); place marker before next st; sc in front loop of next st and then sc in back loop of same st (1 st increased); working in front loops only, sc in last 13 (16) sts; join with sl st in first st – 30 (36) sts.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, turn, working in front loops only, sc in each st around; join with sl st in first st.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, turn, working in front loops only, sc in each st to st before marker; sc in front and then in back loop of st before marker; sc in front and then in back loop of st after marker; working in front loops only, sc in each st to end; join with sl st in first st – 32 (38) sts.
Rep last 2 rnds 8 more times – 48 (54) sts.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, turn, working in front loops only, sc in next 18 (20) sts, ch 2, skip next 12 (14) sts (for thumb opening), sc in last 18 (20) sts; join with sl st in first st – 36 (40) sts.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, turn, working in front loops only, sc in each st around; join with sl st in first st.
Rep last rnd until piece measures 7 in. (18 cm) from beg.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc in each st and ch around; join with sl st in first st.
Rep last rnd until piece measures 8 in. (20.5 cm) from beg. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Thumb
From RS, join yarn with sl st at inside edge of thumb opening.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 2 sc evenly along inside edge of thumb opening, working in back loops only, sc in 12 (14) sts of thumb opening; join with sl st in first st.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each st around thumb opening.
Rep last rnd until thumb measures 1 in. (2.5 cm). Fasten off.
Weave in ends.

Simply Fingerless Gloves

Any Worsted Weight self patterning  #4 yarn

I used Red Heart Super Saver, Multi Color

Acrylic, ww medium, 5 oz., 141 g

Crochet Hook size US I 9 /5.50mm

Yarn Needle

Stitches: Ch – Chain, Slst – Slip Stitch, Sc – Single Crochet, Scdc – Single Crochet Decrease

Note: Do not count Ch1 at beginning of each round as a stitch on rows.

This pattern  is for a medium glove, If you require a smaller or larger glove do one of the following:

1. Change the hook 1 size down for small or 1 size up for large.
2. Subtract 2 sc’s plus 2 rows for smaller size or Add 2 sc’s plus 2 rows for larger size. 

Cuff Instructions:
With I hook, Ch 13,
Row 1: Sc in second Ch from hook and in each Ch across, ch 1, turn (12 sc)
Row 2: Working in back loops only Sc in each Sc across, ch 1, turn (12 sc)
Row 3 – 18: Repeat row 2, at end of last row line up row 18 against first chain row to sew seam for cuff as follows: Ch 1, slst through each sc/ch row across, Ch 1 (12 slst)

Glove Instructions:

Rnd 1: Working on ends of Cuff, Sc around cuff 22 times, join with slst to first sc, ch 1 (22 sc)
Rnd 2: Sc in each sc around, join with slst to first sc, ch 1 (22 sc)
Rnd 3 – 7: Repeat round 2, (22 sc)
Row 8: Sc in next 9 Sc, Sc 2 times in next Sc, Repeat * one more time, join with slst to first sc, ch 1 (24 sc)
Rnd 9: Sc in each sc around, join with slst to first sc, ch 1 (24 sc)
Row 10: Sc in next 12 Sc, Sc 2 times in next Sc, Sc in next 11 sc, join with slst to first sc, ch 1 (25 sc)
