One Skein Scarf Pattern

Without a border, the pattern as written results in a scarf approximately 5 1/2" wide. Adding a DC border brings it closer to 7" in width.
Directions for One-Skein Scarf
Skill Level: Beginner
Abbreviations:
DC = Double Crochet
SC = Single Crochet
CH = Chain
With size J crochet hook, ch 19.
Row 1: (2DC, ch 1, 2DC) in 5th ch from hook, *skip 3 ch, (2DC, ch1, 2DC) in next ch. Repeat from * 3 more times, ending with skip 1 ch, DC in last ch, ch 3, turn. (Note: The first row will look bunched up, but it will straighten out after another row or two).
Row 2: (2DC, ch 1, 2DC) in each ch 1 sp across, ending with DC in top of turning ch, ch 3, turn.(4 clusters)
Repeat row 2 until scarf is your preferred length. If desired, work sc or dc border around entire scarf before binding off. When finishing with a dc border, I worked two dc in each of the spaces made by the ch 3 turning ch and it fit nicely without buckling. See photos in slideshow above for scarf with dc border and with no border.
This scarf can easily be completed in one evening with one skein of yarn.
